About mobile application advertising

You can make money by embedding ad hosting code in your Windows Phone applications. Advertisers pay to show their ads in mobile applications, and each time one of your users clicks on such an ad, you get a share of the revenue.

To integrate ads into your application, follow these steps:

  1. Register a mobile application.
  2. Create a mobile application ad unit.
  3. Add or remove global exclusions to block undesirable URLs from appearing in your applications
  4. Get the Microsoft Advertising SDK for Windows Phone.
  5. Integrate the ad unit code into your application code as explained in the SDK documentation.
  6. Manage your ad units as needed during the life of your Windows Phone applications.
  7. Use pubCenter to manage mobile applications.
  8. Run reports and create custom channels to optimize ad unit performance in your mobile applications.
Important
  • When creating an ad, use the recommended ad size for mobile applications of 480 x 80. The option to create smaller 300 x 50 ad sizes is provided only for backward compatibility.
  • If you have a Windows Phone Dev Center account, you must use Windows Phone Dev Center to create your mobile application and new mobile ad units. Visit the Windows Phone Dev Center to learn more.
