How do I create an import file?

You can import your campaigns from other advertising programs.

If you already have campaigns in other online advertising programs, you can move them to Bing Ads. You have two options to do this: You can create an import file and upload it to Bing Ads, or if you are using Google AdWords, you can import directly from your Google AdWords account. If you choose to use an import file, we provide an import template that you can manually fill out with your campaign info and then import into Bing Ads. Here's how to use that template.

  1. Click Import Campaigns, and then click Import from file.
  2. Click Download the import template.
  3. Click Save and then Open.
  4. Fill the template out with your campaign data.
  5. Select File and then Save as.
  6. Type a name for the import template. Use quotation marks around the name and include .csv at the end. For example, "YourFileName.csv". The quotation marks will not appear in your final file name but are used to prevent Excel from adding ".txt".
  7. Select Unicode Text, and then click Save.
  8. In Bing Ads, click Import Campaigns, and then click Import from file.
  9. If you have imported from a file in the past 90 days, you will see a table that tells you the Data/Time and Uploaded file that was imported along with:
    Column NameDescription
Summary Shows how many entities were imported successfully and how many had errors. Click the ellipse ellipse to see details.
ActionsIf you had errors, you will see a link to download the error file that you can review.
  10. Click Browse and select the import file you've created, then click Continue.
  11. Use the drop-down lists to adjust any Bing Ads column headings to match those in your import file, then click Continue.
  12. Under Choose Bing Ads account & import options , do the following:
    • Choose the Bing Ads account you want to import to
    • Choose the appropriate time zone
    • Choose the appropriate options for What to import
    • Choose the options you want for Bids and budgets
    • Choose the options you want for Destination URL
    • Choose the options you want for Ad extensions
    • Choose the options you want for Bing Merchant Center
  13. Click Import.
  14. Review the Import summary to see what entities were newly added, updated or couldn't be imported (Skipped).
  15. If you want to review the details of the campaigns and make changes, click View imported campaigns.
Notes
  • Unmatched columns will not be imported.
  • You can optionally edit destination URLs and choose to share identical sets of ad extensions between campaigns.
