How are my ads enhanced with annotations?

Ad annotations show additional data to improve the visibility and performance of your ads.

Bing Ads can enhance your ads with ad extensions and annotations. Both enhancement options help to improve the visibility and performance of your ads by displaying extra information about your business – more clicks means more customer traffic. You can add ad extensions to your ads yourself but for annotations, there is no action required from you. Annotations are automatically added to your ads if Bing Ads determines that the annotation can improve your ad performance.

Annotations show data from any of the sources – your ad landing pages, ad copies, and domains your ad copy points to. Certain data, like reviews and rating or social annotations, may be provided from 3rd party providers.

All advertisers are eligible for ad annotations, however, annotations are not always guaranteed to show in the ads. If two competing ads have the same bid and quality, the ad with greater expected impact from ad extensions and annotations will generally appear in a higher ad position than the other.

If you don't want an annotation to display in your ad, notify your Account Manager or Contact Support. Here are the different types of annotations available from Bing Ads. Keep in mind that these are examples only and your ad might look a little different than shown below.

These reviews and ratings primarily reflect customers' overall consumer experience with your businesses, not their response to particular products. We match these reviews to your ad by pairing the domain of the display URL to the advertiser's domain from the review source on Bing.

The eligibility requirements are:

  • Your campaign should be set up as either a Search and content campaign (US only) or Search campaign (non-US only).
  • In most cases, your business must have at least 30 unique reviews -- each from the past 12 months -- and a composite rating of at least 3.5 stars or higher. However, we may show ratings for merchants with fewer than 30 reviews if we have sufficient data from other sources to determine an accurate rating.

Note that if this annotation is applied, the first sentence in your ad description might appear in your ad title, as well as in the ad description. Be sure that your ad description has distinct sentences that end with proper punctuation. Use correct casing and avoid grammatical and spelling errors to enhance the chances of Bing Ads adding a Long Ad Title annotation to your ad.
